Dear 2017

Dear 2017,
I must say you have snuck up on us, but don't get me wrong, I'm extremely glad, slightly hungover but glad none the less and ready to start this year. Although I do ask, you take it easy on us. 2016 was.. well lets just not talk about it.

The words "new year, new me" hang in the air already with the faint smell of fireworks and champagne... and we seriously need to get rid of them. A whole 24 hours does not change a human, it is an impossible task we have to admit it sooner or later. So over here in my little world, the phrase simply does not exist, it will not bee used, read or heard.
January 1st has the same hours, minutes and seconds as October 12th does.
If you want to join the gym, you can, on any day of the year. You wanna take off traveling? You can do it any day you want.
Just because we're changing the date we write down changes it doesn't mean we have to willingly take on an unreasonable amount of pressure to change within a day.
If you want to change something or start something new, you have the power to start it whenever you want, it's all down to you.
Unless you have taken action to resolve issues in 2016, they will follow you into 2017. So on that note, take action.
It takes21 days to either form or break a habit.
Now if you still wanna do the whole new me thing, I totally stand by you, but if you are, truly commit to the new you, you deserve it. And even if you do fall or slip up, pick yourself and try again.
I wanna wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope it's filled with joy and peace.
Good luck with whatever plans and resolutions you have this year, I'm excited to see what it holds for us all.
All my love and best wishes,
Aliyah x

  1. The point you made of how this day has the same amount of time as any other day and sometimes change can take up to 3 weeks has really made me think! Any day I can make a change and better myself. Not just on the first day of the first year! Such an inspiring post x

  2. I love everything about this. It's so true and I agree on every level. If someone wants to change they will, it doesn't take it being a new year for that to happen. A person simply needs to find something within them to make the change they want to see.

    Happy New Year lovely.

  4. Such a good post, the New Year does inspire me to do better, but you're right in terms of not needing the New Year to change.

    Happy New Year love!
