Favourite Drugstore Foundations

I asked my little loves on twitter what they wanted to see more of on my blog and the majority said beauty related posts, so here I am giving it a shot!
Please note I am in no way trying to say I know everything about makeup or anything, I'm just an avid makeup hoarder like the rest of you praying her eyelashes go on nicely.
I feel like a lot go beauty guru's tend to rave on about high end foundations more often, but I feel like the younger demographic of their readers or viewers who are just starting out in makeup or just people who love makeup but don't have £40 to splurge on one bottle of foundation alone can feel left out.

Drugstore makeup is nothing to turn our noses up at. We all started off with a Dream Matte Mousse from Superdrug so lets all humble down. I'm joking, but I'm still a fan of a good Superdrug haul as I am my high end products!
I thought today I would share with you my favourite foundations. I'm gonna try and share a lot more of my drugstore favourites as well as my high end ones so please do let me know if you like them!

Rimmel London - Wake Me Up £8.99
I have literally been using this foundation since I was like in year 8! Not this exact bottle obviously.. but I must say even though I've probably been through quite a few bottles of this baby a little goes a long way!
The best thing about this foundation is that it still looks like skin when its on, its light coverage and does not tend to crease which makes it perfect for a first foundation or even a natural everyday look.
I wear it in the shade 200 Soft Beige.

Maybelline - Fit Me £5.99
I am seriously so confused as to why this foundation is only £5.99! It's one of my holy grails. I reach for this so often I have about 3 back up tubes/bottles of it in stock. I adore how this feels when its on. hardly feels you're wearing makeup. Its literally creamy like a moisturiser and I would definitely suggest it for someone with dry skin as well as everyone else on the planet! It oxidises but rather than going orange it continues to settle into your skin tone and match it.
It's honestly a perfect matte base. I currently own about 300 tubes of it in the shade 220 Natural Beige.

L'Oreal Paris - Infallible Matte Foundation £7.99
This foundation is higher coverage and slightly heavier than the others I've mentioned in this post. Its got a very smooth matte finish which I love as dewy foundations often make me look just oily and slip off my face.
I tend to use this more for going out looks rather than day time ones as I prefer the thicker coverage and staying power, life saver on a night out really!
I use this in the shade 20 Sand. It also oxidises slightly, as most high coverage foundations do, so I make sure I blend it down into my neck

Revlon - ColorStay £12.99
Although I don't reach for this foundation as much I have to include it in this post because it can be such a life saver. This is again a lot more high coverage. I tend to use this foundation when my skin pigment is playing up. This is a saviour on days when I'm ill, or really tired and my skin has an odd yellowy tone to it this foundation balances it out and gives me an even colour all out. It's also moisturising so if my skins particularly dry, like from seasonal change, I'll reach for this. A little goes a long way and it's also very blend-able and easy to build up! I use the shade 330 Natural Tan and find than it hardly oxidises which is a blessing!

Revlon - PhotoReady AirBrush Effect £12.99
I can not stop raving about this foundation enough! It's honestly my absolute favourite. It's really high coverage but doesn't feel heavy or weigh your skin down! Staying power is amazing with or without powder or setting spray. Honestly this foundation could do no wrong.
The smallest big goes a long way and you can still build it up without looking cake or orange!
I love a full face of prominent makeup and this is the perfect base. I feel like it skins in nicely into your skin giving you a naturally smooth airbrush affect. It reminds me of the Mac Studio Fix but less heavy and it doesn't cause your skin to break out into a volcanic eruption of spots! Also it has a lush smell to it! Bonus or what! I wear this in the shade 004 Nude.

Let me know what your favourite drugstore foundations are so I can give them a try!
All my love ,
Aliyah x

  1. This comparison post is super useful, it's really handy to know how these products stack up against each other so that you can make a better choice when you're out shopping! The Maybelline foundation sounds amazing, and for such a cheap price! I definitely need to pick one of those up in my shade! Thanks for sharing! ❤️

I do have the wake me up however it makes me break out even though it gives a glowy flawless look I'm so sad! But I've been looking at the Revlon one so this has been so helpful. Great as always lovely xox

  3. I've not used this brands since I was a teen, makes me feel so old! Not that I am, well I hope I'm not. God. Now I don't know.
Anyway, haha. I used to be obsessed with the Rimmel foundation, it was so thick and full coverage and I would use my fingers to plaster it all over my face! Those were the days.
Now that I have finished my little trip down memory lane. I wish I could still use this brand but I had to move over to high brands as they never catered to my literally white self. I'm the palest person and its not even fair girl! Can I just be you? Thanks (:

  6. I think I'm going to have to try out the Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush effect because your description makes it sound like just what I need! Honestly I love high coverage because my skin tone can sometimes be a jerk. Thanks for writing this! (:
